101/1001 Update

The only thing you have 100% control over is you. - Hyrum Smith

Body/Martial Arts/Physical Improvement/Testing Myself: I'm still mostly keeping up on 3 x 60 pushups and 3 x 15 burpees. Faye and I completed the March Goruck Workout Thursday, which was a 2000m ruck, 34 rounds of 1 sandbag squat thruster, 3 pushups, and 5 mountain climbers (all wearing our rucks at baseline weight), and then another 2000m ruck. We exceeded the distance at both ends of the WOD, and added the stairs at Laurelhurst Park to make it a bit more challenging. We also completed the additional tasking on Saturday: "do one miserable thing (with someone else) that you haven't done in at least a year. You should be scared, at least a little bit, to do it." See the Base Station section - Misery, indeed. The patch has been slapped on my ruck. *smile* Next month: 'Endure'.

Mind/Spirit/Centering/Health: I'm still meditating daily, and continuing a mindful eating practice. I'm still reading Soul of the Samurai: Modern Translations of Three Works of Zen & Bushido, by Thomas Cleary. As with most of the books of this genre, it's slow, dense reading. I'm also reading The Hidden Brain: How Our Unconscious Minds Elect Presidents, Control Markets, Wage Wars, and Save Our Lives by Shankar Vedantam. Faye has had their second COVID-19 vaccination, and The Old Man is scheduled for his second vaccination shortly after his surgery.

Maintenance/Shit Got To Be Done: I will 'complete my EMT CEUs biannually' goal next week after April 1, when OHA opens up the renewal process. I'll also schedule a 6-month dental checkup. My office bookcase has been delivered, and that will, after I've installed it over my desk, free up a lot of room for books and office supplies and a client lending library.

In Case of Zombies/Disaster Preparation: I'm still doing a weekly 3-hour comprehensive EMT refresher online. This week: BLS Pharm. The station is slowly reopening as Columbia County goes to Moderate Risk, and I'll be eligible to volunteer as soon as I get my annual online certifications done.

Base Station/Ol' Number 3: We moved more of Dad's stuff out of the RV and into the Gate House and organized most of it, and I also had a professional cleaner come out and do mold remediation throughout the RV. I've owned that RV since June 29th of last year, and last night was the first night I've been able to sleep in her. Faye hung most of Dad's art and pictures in the Gate House. We are still one bookcase from finishing the 'move The Old Man into the Gate House' goal. We finished digging a bit more than 30 feet of the RV dump line trench and found and repaired a broken conduit line for the RV power hookup. Dirty, hard, backbreaking work, that had to be done right or have a sewer line fail to drain. It took two emergency trips to Home Depot. *sigh* We are almost ready to lay pipe and backfill from the RV to the first turn toward the septic tank.

Travel/Adventure/Doing Stuff: No progress.
