I think a mindmap is a visual map of interactions with my lj. I'm in the middle, and the closer and bigger you are to the middle, indicates how often you comment to my posts. I think.
It's actually a little more complicated than that. Many factors are used to determine who is bigger and closer to you. A few are (in no particular order):
Friendship Status - Mutual Friends are closer than those whom are just listed as your friend but dont have you listed on their end as a friend.
Mutual Friends of Friends - Those whom are friends with those whom are on your friends list are closer as well. (ie Grim & Tigress are mutual friends - Tigress and Turtle are mutual friends - Turtle and Grim are mutual friends - Turtle and Pinkk are mutual friends - Pinkk and Tigress are mutual friends - Grim and Pink are mutual friends etc. etc.) This is because we are now a circle of mutual friends (so to speak)
Replies to Posts - not only who replies to you but whom you reply to as well
There are other factors but these are the quickest and most obvious to list.
