Updating the Update

Well, I passed, and I am now 7th kyu, a purple belt. I earned it, though.

I damaged my right knee on the last back stance of the first set, and rode the pain though all of the line drills and katas. The Sensei stopped the test twice to ask if I wanted to stop, but I wanted to continue. I put too much muscle into everything, and tired myself out. I couldn't hit a back stance right even once. My kicks sucked, and my combinations were probably painful to watch, but my kata and kumite were ok. I had to spar with Sensei James, who was nice to me and only hit me in the head once. :>

Paula and the BF watched, and Paula wrapped and iced my knee afterwards, and then I had a nice dinner with the BF, as Paula had to go to work. I will be spending the night convalescing at the BF's, and then go to work looking like I've been in a car accident. I think I'll be taking some time off training so as to heal a bit.

Was it worth it? Oh, Hell, yeah.

Oss!

Congratulations! and I'm dancing again. Glad you have Paula and the BF to ease your physical and mental when you push on through it. You are a very tough cookie! We both send love and hugs to celebrate your passage into purple ~ pinkk & Lumpy

Congratulations!

*shakes head at self* I always read "BF" as "Boyfriend" first and have to go back and correct to "Best Friend"

I'm delighted the Best Friend gets caps and boyfriend doesn't.

Want me to tell you when some friends and I are going to spend an afternoon at the range?

Also - the several times I've been told to "put 300 rounds through a gun before I buy it" - does one mean that particular individual sidearm that I plan to take home or an instance of the model I'm considering but not necessarily the particular individual sidearm I'd like to take home?

Congrats! Knew you could do it!

Woohoo!! You so rock... you purple-belt you! Sorry to hear you had to test through an injury... in a way I know that sucks, but it also really brings a feeling of accomplishment and tests your mettle. Hmmmmm... now I really gotta get my ass back in a dojo cause my adrenaline raced just reading about your hard-kick-ass work. Good idea to take time to heal up, you've earned it. I'm really proud of you Grim.

Congratulations, my friend. A hard-earned accomplishment. You have my deepest respect. My test won't be anywhere near as grueling. Much love, Jesse

Good Job

Hey you looked fine out there. You did well. You shouldn't beat yourself your are still learning. If it was easy everyone be a blackbelt. What fun would that be. Sorry about the head.
