Well. I went to my first class tonight. I don't ki-ai, I ki-yap. I wear a do bak instead of a gi, and a dee instead of an obi. But I can do pushups, and squat thrusts. Master Tim was holding me back from doing as many repetitions as the rest due to my knee (did you call him, Sensei?). Tonight we practiced hapkido and I found myself on the floor alot in strange positions, and I earned praise for being able to do a simple forward roll to escape a hip throw. I need work on the nuances of their stances and blocks which seem slow and exaggerated, and I'm soon going to be working on Hyungs(kata), which aren't that different from Ryo Bu Kai, just more kicks and techniques in the same direction than Pinan kata. Overall, a good class. I like my teachers and the fellow students, who seem to want to train hard.

I set up my checking account today as well, but I won't have money in it until 8/23, because of out-of-state checks. I'll manage.

I'm starting to repack for Burning Man, since I will arrive before my stuff by two days. NTSA rules are not allowing liquids in carry-on baggage like sunscreen and shampoo and water, so I am having to improvise. I'll manage.

This may be a good time to consider fasting again.

OK. I have something to post.

Our ability to relax reflects our willingness to trust. (Anonymous)

The Way of the sage is to act but not to compete. (Lao Tzu)

The body moves naturally, automatically, without any personal interventions or awareness. If we think too much, our actions become slow and hesitant. When questions arise, the mind tires; consciousness flickers and wavers like a candle in the breeze. (Tiasen Deshimaru)
