“Change is hard at first, messy in the middle, and gorgeous at the end” – Robin Sharma

Martial Arts/Physical Improvement/Testing Myself: I'm still getting back into my workday routine of 30 pushups (3 sets), three sets of grippers, 30 air squats, and 30 crunches; I have made some progress this week. I'm still considering Man Makers, but some things have to be moved around in my office. I have trained in three Yang Style Tai Chi/Qigong classes this week. I have a weightlifting plan for the dojo equipment, focusing on chin-ups.

We've continued the rucking requirement for January's GoRuck 'Change' Challenge tasks, with my plate carrier (two 10-lb. plates) and my baseline weight ruck for the third week, and I've added another 10-lb. plate to my ruck for the last 10 days. We finished the workout, the GoRuck Baseline Functional Fitness Test (BFF), which was a 1-mile ruck/shuffle, 2 minutes of sandbag burpees/overhead toss (no ruck), a 200m suitcase carry (ruck and sandbag), and 2 minutes of hand-release pushups (no ruck). I chose the 'Tough' category, which is a 30+ lbs. ruck, a 60 lb. sandbag, and an 80-lb. 1-miler weight. The baseline stats: 24 minutes for a 95-lb. (35-lb. ruck and a 60-lb. sandbag) 1-miler, 12 reps of sandbag burpees/overhead toss (no ruck), 3min12sec for the 200m suitcase carry (ruck and sandbag), and 41 reps in 2 minutes of hand-release pushups (no ruck). We finished the book of the month, Four Thousand Weeks: Time Management for Mortals by Oliver Burkeman. I have completed the additional tasking of, "Write down something positive that you want to do this year, and what you need to do to be ready. As opposed to cutting things out that you think of as negative, add a goal to your life that is positive. It works better." I had narrowed it down to taking Jukai, engaging in the 5AM Club, or more hours volunteering and training at the fire station; all of these are projects that will take some time and research. I may complete all three, but I've decided on more firefighting hours, measured as 200 hours for 2023.

Mind/Spirit/Centering/Health: I'm still reading How to Be Compassionate: a Handbook for Creating Inner Peace and a Happier World by The Dalai Lama XIV and Jeffrey Hopkins, Hope Dies Last: Keeping the Faith in Difficult Times by Studs Terkel, Your Brain on Food: How Chemicals Control Your Thoughts and Feelings by Gary L. Wenk, and I'm still studying Sun Tzu's Art of War.

Maintenance/Shit Got To Be Done: The transmission for The Whorse is at the transmission shop. I've completed all of the financial information for 2022, except the end-of-the-month stuff from the money market accounts before I get it to the accountant. My plan to have all of the required LPC and CADC CEUs done for the year before I have to deal with the EMT CEUs in March has meant a lot of online CEU computer time. I've finished getting all of my 2023 CEU requirements out of the way, completing a 4-CEU course on Alcohol and Alcohol Use Disorders, a 0.5-CEU course on Commonly Abused Supplements, a 2-CEU course on Cocaine Use Disorder, a 2-CEU course on Methamphetamine Use Disorder, a 1-CEU course on Medical and Illicit Use of Anabolic Steroids, a 1-CEU course on Top-Selling Herbal Supplements, a 1-CEU course on Club Drugs, a 2.5-CEU course on Sexual Addiction, a 1.5-CEU course on Hallucinogens, and a 2-CEU course on Online Professionalism and Ethics. I'll still take short CEU webinars during the year to keep current, and I'll learn different things or review important and interesting topics, but I won't have any license renewal pressure.

In Case of Zombies/Disaster Preparation: No progress.

Base Station/Ol' Number 3: No progress.

Adventure/Doing Stuff: We took a two-day road trip to the Oregon Coast/Oregon Dunes, collecting our Siuslaw NP Junior Ranger badge and finding older caches and Earthcaches along the coast from Reedsport to Newport.
