During a visit to the mental asylum, a visitor asked
the Director what the criterion was which defined
whether or not a patient should be institutionalized.

"Well," said the Director, "we fill up a bathtub, then
we offer a teaspoon, a teacup and a bucket to the
patient and ask him or her to empty the bathtub."

"Oh, I understand," said the visitor. "A normal person
would use the bucket because it's bigger than the
spoon or the teacup."

"No," said the Director. "A normal person would pull
the plug. Do you want a bed near the window?"

There is more than one way to solve a problem, and the best way is not always obvious.

The fast continues at Day 6. I have all of my energy back, and a bit more. Most of the film on my skin is gone, and my breath is better. I rolled out of bed at 6:35am, and walked two miles and did kata and hyung, in the mist and fog. I sat and breathed by the lake and watched the frogs.

I didn't try to run, as, um, well...I learned in class on Monday I'm not yet up to spinning back kicks. The knee seems fine today, after I iced it last night and rested it. The rest of my class went very well and I am starting to notice, if only by sore muscles, that my strength is returning.

Darryll's girlfriend went to Durham and picked up my parts for Growler, and with a little charge to the battery and a bit of gas, she's rolling. Test ride from my room to the hospital, being generous: 9 minutes. From the hospital to the gym/dojang: 6 minutes.

I went to the Dollar Store and found a candleholder and candle for my altar. It looks very nice, and seems to fit with my spartan decor.

Tonight: pack for the Burn, call about the Masonic Lodge in Creedmoor. Meditate on keeping all of my chakras open and modulated.
