Weekly Update
Sep. 21st, 2006 05:24 pmToday I have finally completed the last of my hospital orientation, a self-defense class without hurting the patient. I've also gone to Grand Rounds on End-Stage Liver Disease, Alcohol Liver Disease, and Hepatitis, returning just in time to lead the Coping Skills Group for the higher-functioning patients and write my group notes. I'm pretty much oriented to the ward, at this point.
Paula just sent me pictures of Phaedrus, and one of Ten Mae, who seem to be doing quite well, and have been named by Paula as the 'Underfoot Duo'. My mother has also sent me a birthday package, a book on Haiku by Basho. I am really enjoying Basho, and I have shown off my cat pictures to the other interns.
There is a Tang Soo Do Gup test 10/21 that I will probably testing in, although I have not yet been requested to test, and I won't ask. I am working on training my body, and still walking at lunchtime, and working out and hitting the treadmill most days. I still need to sleep more.
The BF will be here in 8 days, and I am looking forward to her visit. In some ways, I'm pretty lonely, and I miss being able to just hang out and touch base with her. There's a good possibility that Tam may visit in December, as well.
I note changes in my communication style, and in the ways people respond to me, especially in person or by email. I'm calmer, less judgmental, and more thoughtful, and more measured. I'm less scattered and less reactive. I breathe even more than before, and I seem to be more balanced and grounded.
