Notes from an Intern
Nov. 8th, 2006 03:23 pmToday I taught Tai Chi to the middle-functioning geriatric patients in Exercise Group. I thought I'd just be in the back with the folks in wheelchairs, but this was not to be the case. The other two Rehabilitation Therapists were either not there or injured, so I unexpectedly had the class to myself. I smiled, and started the class. The first half hour was the video, and then, after it was over, I worked with them on gentle, flowing blocks. I emphasized Tai Chi is about flowing around force, and not confronting and hitting back. The patients in my class were all directed some of my energy, and dull, drab, grey energy-blocked patients brightened up and responded. They may have learned a subtle lesson about flowing and balance.
Oh, was I talking about the patients...or myself?
