Radical acceptance
Dec. 31st, 2006 05:21 pmSo, my bike has been in the shop and won't be ready for some time, and I wanted to give Tam a ride before she left, but I simply said to myself, "if it happens, it happens." Tam and I went to Biker Church on Friday, and the feeling that I wasn't able to show her that part of myself intensified, but I just breathed and said to myself, "oh well, if it's meant to happen it will."
Yesterday, I went to work at the gym as usual. I was cleaning the sink in the men's locker room, when I got a flash that I needed to come to the front of the gym, and I hustled out. Turns out 5 bikers from Biker Church came to Butner to surprise me and offer to LEND me one of their bikes...an 88 cubic-inch stroker Harley Davidson Wide Glide, with apehangers and forward controls and blue-green flame paint. By 2:30, I was rolling at speed with the Hellfighters Motorcycle Ministry toward Raleigh, with Tam hanging on behind me.
Thanks, Universe.
