I have completed my Tang Soo Do test. My knee, while I was performing somewhat unexpected back kicks, swelled up on the top, bottom, and both sides. As a result, My basic hyung was not to my level of what I consider acceptable, and I had to completely re-do my advanced hyung and still made several basic mistakes. Pain distracts. I lost focus. However, I breathed, regained focus, moved energy on the fly with some effort, nailed my one-step sparring, my hapkido techniques...and then broke a wet, one-inch pine board with a reverse punch.

I don't know for sure, but that may have been enough to pass, not that it matters. Some things the Universe allows you to do well, and some things the Universe will not allow you to perform well, regardless of your training. Training merely gives you a greater likelihood of performing better. My lesson? I can move energy distracted by pain, and keep going. Some internal block inside of me broke today, and I am now able to pull energy up and down through me with less effort, overall.

Still working on basics. Changing my diet, changing my workout, changing my perspective. Simpler and less is better in many things. Less flour, less processed food, more meat, and more green, leafy vegetables. Even more water. Even less coffee. Uncluttering my body and my life seems to be what I need to work on, detoxing and clearing up what's behind me, bringing more of my energy for me now and for the future.
