Jul. 3rd, 2008 10:55 pmAfter spending the last couple of days teaching and learning about service, and the traditional and proper ways of the sword - and some practice to familiarize myself with her particular sword, I went to Twin Falls, about 25 minutes from where I'm staying on Maui this week.
We went to the lowest and most private waterfall, in a lush lagoon, with a large chest-deep pool of warm water, and a strong waterfall. A Samurai held space, and took pictures, and we were uninterrupted for almost two hours. I performed every sword kata I know twice, first in the water in front of and then again directly under the waterfall.
This has been a dream of mine since 2004, when I put it on my yearly list of things to accomplish. I arose out of the water with muscles aching, my feet bleeding from the rocks and from a minor sword cut into my left thigh, but enormous clarity and peace.
