This weekend I went camping with three gentlemen – an Esoteric Mason and psychonaut, a spiritual leader who just organized a large pagan ritual, and a community elder, a geotechnical engineer. We went out on a small boat down the Clatskanie River, to a mystical place called Dead Bird Island, and camped, a men-only weekend out. We drank a 12-year old Glenlivet, a bottle of equally old Irish whiskey, beer, a bottle of mead, cowboy coffee, and most of a bottle of absinthe. Almost every meal had sausage. We discussed philosophy, religion, spirituality, neuropsychology, the tides, psychoactive journeys, and the movement of energy, with plenty of comfortable silences. We pulled and burned scotch broom responsibly, a group effort, and watched big ships steam past, enjoying the wake. The weather was warm and cool, well-suited for our gear and our personalities. The boat ride was both too short and just right.

I stayed in Portland overnight, spending some time with Brother Tiny, and discovered I’d temporarily misplaced my wallet. I then went to Berbati’s Pan for ritual, and then again ritual, reconnecting with some of the Burners and local community. I was able to retrieve my wallet without much problem, and then returned back to the Fortress of Solitude.

Miss Rebecca took care of Phaedrus this weekend, and Phaedrus has gotten all of the expensive medical tests he needs so that we can determine if he needs more insulin. If he does, then there’s a clear progression of his diabetes, but he will be more comfortable, and will have less of an urination problem.

Now, I’ll work on getting caught up on my email, which I’ve simply not had time for, and preparing my files and office stuff – our clinic is moving to a different suite in the same building this weekend. There will be some chaos, but I hope to minimize the impact on the clients I’m responsible for, and it’s an opportunity to clear out and organize yet more stuff. I’m steadily getting caught up on my assessments, and studying for my EPPP licensing exam, and making plans for the floor plan layout of ‘Ol Number 3.
