Goals Update
Feb. 10th, 2009 10:14 pmI'm in Texas for a week visiting my folks (#56), a make-up Christmas time visit. I received a new Carharrt jacket, a HD T-shirt and a hoodie, a Hawaiian shirt, and some books I've already started to read (#62). Tomorrow I go to San Antonio with my mother, where we will go to the Alamo, and the Texas Ranger Museum (#94), as well as drink in five different famous hotels, wearing a new snap-button Wrangler shirt and Mexican leather belt purchased for the occasion. We've been doing a bit of talking about medical issues and legal decisions in the family, and it's a bit sobering.
There will likely be a visit to Seguine with my mother, and beef brisket with my father, and more discussion. Speaking of drinking, I recently had a fine cigar and some 12-year scotch, as well as a bit of port, spending an enjoyable evening with the RWB and his family. Sadly, the attire wasn't formal, but I wore a Utilikilt anyway.
I've also started to increase my physical training, as I've been confirmed to engage in a fire sword duel on March 15th (#11). Tonight I took a night run, and ran hard for miles into the warm wind and the darkness, my legs pumping over the hills in exhilaration, being chased by the rain. I'm determined to train at a considerably harder level than I have been training, and my kenjutsu and forms, as well as my push-ups and sit-ups are going to increase (#5-10).
While I'm in Texas my truck is getting the rest of the tune-up it needs (#54), and the Harley is also being serviced and the corrosion removed and a bigger gas tank installed (#46 and #47). I was a bit physically ill, so my tattoo back piece work was rightly rescheduled, but more ideas for the next stages were discussed (#30). The bus will be painted end of the month (#45).
Phaedrus is being ably taken care of by Miss Rebecca, and I'm enjoying daily quotes (so far, Shakespeare and Rumi),and I'm very grateful for her. I'm busy working on three reports for work, making phone calls, and planning and organizing, as well as studying for my EPPP (#14), when I'm not with my parents. The subpoena was fortunately dismissed. I'll be back for a week in Oregon, then on to AZ (#55) and skydiving without an airplane (#20).
