Apr. 6th, 2009 09:25 amI often ask others what they have learned, or been reminded of, after they have just engaged in a significant moment in their lives. I learned that I can forced march (#43) for 9 miles after not eating other than fruit juice and water for 6 days and I learned that I can get more work done on my back piece (#30) after that, all useful training. I learned that I can complete my fast (#27) and eat mindfully in solitude, eating without celebration or without others. I learned that coffee, after none for 7 days, tastes better with friends. I learned that I can move energy in different ways when I have and when I do not have food. I learned that taking 15 minutes and validating the successes of a Deshi while engaging in another martial arts ritual enhances both rituals.
I relearned both listening to and overriding my body. I relearned that we are all full of illusions. I relearned that we all follow the rhythm of the Universe, and that there is no limit to human potential and courage and training.
