Firefighter Intern: Day 3
Apr. 12th, 2018 10:22 pmThe height of your accomplishment will equal the depth of your convictions. - William F. Scolavino
Today was a long day of cleaning the station, working backup on a medical call, and working on various station projects. In the afternoon, we worked hard on an evolution where one engine backs up to another, setting down a framed collapsible dump tank and then dropping water in the tank for the first engine to draft, and also having the first engine running out a 2.5inch attack line. We did it over and over until we could get water streaming and the dump tank fully drafting in under three minutes. I got a lot of practice taking hydrants, made my gear more accessible faster, and reworked my bailout system. Not much that I could get signed off on my taskbooks, but a lot of good practice and training. My whole body, especially my arms, are sore. *smile*
