First May 2018 101/1001 Update
May. 9th, 2018 01:39 pmEducation's purpose is to replace an empty mind with an open one. - Malcolm Forbes
Goals Completed: 15
Goals in Progress: 35
Body/Martial Arts/Physical Improvement/Testing Myself: I have been getting back to the gym these last few weeks, and pushing strength and conditioning as my workout priority. Our Spartan Team has signed up for a Spartan Training Workout this weekend, and I'm still running the Rugged Maniac 5K at the end of May. I'm also working on getting in a 100 pushups a day, in sets of 20. I'll be adding both to the sets and the overall number.
Mind/Spirit/Centering/Health: I'm back to paying attention to my food intake and my sleep, and making getting more sleep more of a priority. I'm keeping current on my formal meditative practices and considering another month of daily meditation.
Maintenance/Shit Got To Be Done: Signed up for a 21-credit CEU conference in June.
In Case of Zombies/Disaster Preparation: I'm continuing my Intern shifts at the station, working on my Fire Prevention class. Getting ready to sign up for 8 credits of classes, including introduction classes to both Fire and EMS and an interesting HazMat class for next term. I'm still finishing up my taskbook for my Firefighter 1 certification. I'm signed up for the Red Cross Disaster Academy next weekend, and an Amtrak Passenger Train Emergency Response training before that, which should complete a couple of goals.
Travel/Adventure/Doing Stuff: I spent a day the last month near the Tillamook State Forest Oregon with Carla and Terry hunting more old geocaches and geocaches that had the difficulty/terrain combinations we needed to work on Fizzy and Jasmer Challenges. I got a couple of new difficulty/ terrain combinations, but a rockslide closed the road to getting the one cache I needed for the Oregon History Challenge. Not much other progress.
More Overdue Hiaku
running and pushups
bench press, and incline press
body responding
pause to update
withdraw from my busy life
refresh the mind
mindfulness practice -
Observe, Orient, Decide
and then ... Action!
