Firefighter Intern: Day 23
Aug. 10th, 2018 10:09 amYou have to do something in your life that is honorable and not cowardly if you are to live in peace with yourself, and for the firefighter it is fire. ~ Larry Brown
This one-day shift was very different from our usual intense days and nights. I was again assigned to Engine 481 and HB481, and actually didn't respond to any calls at all. I spent the day going through my wildland gear, helping with rig checks, and doing a complete inventory check of Medic 483 with RJ, our new probationary Firefighter. It was good to see what I already knew about where things are on the Medic, and I got to ask a lot of questions and learn about why things are the way that they are.
We went to bed early and we slept all night without a single call. What a blessing! *smile*
