The more time that has elapsed since the last fire is less time until the next one. - Unknown

We started with the usual house chores, and a long meeting about the ISO folks coming for an inspection, so we are focused on making sure that we are doing things the right ways and the right order. No calls today, so I spent most of the day doing house chores, attending a safety meeting at the Quincy substation, and studying Respiratory Emergencies for class on Monday.

Went to bed fairly early, and woke up to being toned out just before 7am for a lady with recent cataract surgery who fell, but wasn't transported. I rode third, carried in the monitor, and was generally helpful. Shortly after we got back, we got a Conflagration call out for the fires in California - and we ended up sending five of our guys and Utility 482, as Rescue 481 is out of service and the Chief couldn't spare either of our Heavy Brush rigs.

This afternoon we were toned out for a residential fire alarm, and I got to ride with the career long-term firefighters, who were a lot more casual and relaxed about mounting up in the engine, and I got some more practice working with my turnouts, loading the apparatus radio into my turnouts, while wearing the headset, the seat belt, and putting on the Scott Pack at the same time. There was no fire at the location, but good practice for me!

We slept okay until just before 7am, again, this time for a lady with fainting spells. I was generally helpful again and we transported this time. I got more practice with patient transfer, and we got back to the station a bit late ... just in time for the next shift to get toned out.
