101/1001 Update
Jul. 8th, 2021 03:02 pmBody/Martial Arts/Physical Improvement/Testing Myself: At the end of the month, I'd managed to ruck 67.7 miles of the 77-mile rucking requirement for June. I starting off July owing 9.3 miles before I could slap the patch on my ruck and start the July GoRuck 'Defy' Challenge. *sigh* This is the first time I've not finished the challenge by the end of the month. I got it done and the patch slapped on my ruck by the afternoon of the 2nd. We've also gotten a pullup bar to get better with upper-body grip strength.
The July Challenge has indeed dropped - the workout is a bit harder (4 Rounds of a 250m Ruck and 17 Sandbag Squats, another 250m Ruck, and then 76 [alternate movement each round] Sandbag Pull-Throughs, 4 count Flutter Kicks with Ruck, Overhead Ruck High Pulls, and Ruck Push-Ups), but the rucking mileage requirements (three 5-mile rucks) are easier - but you're required to add 20% more weight to your loadout. The book is The Last Hero: A Life of Henry Aaron by Howard Bryant. The additional tasking is to "write down a list of your loyalties in life. People, causes, you name it. What you do with that list is entirely up to you."
Mind/Spirit/Centering/Health: I've completed my daily meditation for the month of June, and I'm continuing through the month of July. I hope to sit formal zazen this month; I have many months to catch up. I am strongly considering Summer Zazenkai at the end of the month. I've finally finished Meditations 4, by Thanissaro Bhikkhu (Geoffery Degraff); it was 44 recorded and transcribed Dharma (Dhamma) Talks, each needing some thought.
Maintenance/Shit Got To Be Done: I'm back to seeing some of my clients in the office, with proof of vaccination and a temperature check. I'll be taking a bonus CEU class, "Evaluation and Pharmacological Treatment of Mood Disorders" this week. My Jeep is still in the shop.
In Case of Zombies/Disaster Preparation: I've already completed ALS Anatomy and Physiology and ALS Pharmacology, the first two classes in the PeaceHealth Street Medicine Series. I have signed up for a GoRuck Level 1 Tactical Self-Defense Event in October.
Base Station/Ol' Number 3: Base Station got more cleanup and organization, as I bought more tools from my storage in Portland and set up a third tool shelf in the Pump House. The Old Man and I set up the G5RV antenna, and now we have all of the frequencies we will be operating with, although still no voice transmitter. The Old Man will test it and get it fixed. Faye bucked up the rest of the slash pile, and we now have a cord and a half of wood dry or drying for the Fall in the racks - and a little less concern about fire safety. We also cut back some of the grass and blackberries out at the front gate and in the 'living room', and we're making progress on expansion and making it nicer. However, the main thing this weekend was that I dug out and laid 20 feet of RV dump line, and we backfilled it, giving us the trailer turnaround back. I've almost got another 10 feet ready to lay, and a good start on the last 30 feet. We had more ribs and grilled corn and potato salad, and for dessert, Faye made fresh berry clafoutis. *smile*
Travel/Adventure/Doing Stuff: No progress.
