To be able to fill leisure intelligently is the last product of civilization. - Bertrand Russell

Body/Martial Arts/Physical Improvement/Testing Myself: I've completed the last light ruck I had left to finish, and I also completed a masked, socially distanced volunteer opportunity this weekend, a CITO (Cache In-Trash Out) geoevent/environmental cleanup event - so I get to slap the patch on the ruck for the August 'Suffer' GoRuck Challenge. I'm still rehabbing with two sets of 25 pushups, crunches, and air squats mostly daily. In addition to the two 5Ks on the same day in October, I've also signed up for a 10K at the end of October. I'll likely start some running practice very soon.

Mind/Spirit/Centering/Health: I have read The Checklist Manifesto by Atul Gawande, the proponent of surgery checklists. A fascinating read about how "[c]hecklists supply a set of checks to ensure the stupid but critical stuff is not overlooked, and they supply another set of checks to ensure people talk and coordinate and accept responsibility while nonetheless being left the power to manage the nuances and unpredictabilities the best they know how." I've also read The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin. Great Free Library impulse reads! I'm now reading The Places That Scare You: A Guide to Fearlessness in Difficult Times by Pema Chödrön. Haiku below. The Zen temples have shut down in-person meditation, so I will again be sitting Zazen online. *sigh*

Maintenance/Shit Got To Be Done: No progress.

In Case of Zombies/Disaster Preparation: I completed the rescheduled ALS OB and Childbirth class this week, but the ALS Head and Spinal Trauma class was canceled. This does complete another of my 101 goals, and I'll keep attending as many classes as I can. I will likely take at least some of the 100-hour Critical Care Transport Provider Course starting August 31, 2021. I've also completed the first week of Medical Emergencies: CPR, Toxicology, and Wilderness from the University of Colorado, the hardest week, and I have a 7-day 'free trial' to complete this course or I have to pay for it.

Base Station/Ol' Number 3: The gravel for the driveway has arrived, a 'spare time' project. We are still awaiting river rock for the leach fields for the septic system.

Travel/Adventure/Doing Stuff: After the CITO, we stopped for a quick socially distanced outdoor stout and pizza at The Heavy Metal Pizza & Brewing Company, and listened to some live music from a cover band, Millhouse. Pretty good!

Pandemic delays
national realizations
Slowly, progress

There is always hope
Dark times - anger, fear
Prepare, ride it out

training is a grind
learn everything you can
you'll need it
