101/1001 Update
Feb. 15th, 2026 09:30 pmβThe only person you can control is you. So focus on making yourself who you want to be: Faster. Smarter. Stronger. More humble. Less ego.β β Jocko Willink
Body/Martial Arts/Physical Improvement/Testing: I've attended my weekly Shaolin Kung Fu class. Another student was promoted, so we went out for pizza. *smile*
January's GoRuck 'Origin' Challenges are finally completed! The Rucking and Additional Challenge requirement was, "Choose your weight, set your goal, and earn your Ruck Fit patch by completing 10 total rucks between January 1 β 31." At the Advanced level, a ruck should be 20-45 lbs. for 5-7 miles. Because I was sick, I'd given myself a two-week extension to get my rucks in and complete my self-imposed goal, with the help and companionship of my friends.
February's GoRuck 'Discipline' Challenges are ongoing. What's left: The workout is the "Valentine's Day Massacre", which is a Buy In of 100 Sandbag Back Squats, 4 rounds of: a 200m Sandbag Shuffle (carry any way you would like), 20 Sandbag Clean & Front Tosses, 20 Bear Crawl Sandbag Drags (each drag is 1 rep), 20 Sandbag Shoulder to Shoulders (total) - and then a Cash Out of 100 Sandbag Front Squats, all with a 60-lb. Sandbag (Tough Level). The Rucking and Additional Challenge requirement this month is to "[r]uck 10 - 20 minutes every day in February. You pick the load, speed, and distance. Suggestion: alternate between light/fast and heavy/not as fast!" The repeat F*CK is "a mobility check, working on 3 mobility checks by doing the following: Couch Stretch: 60-second hold on each side; Airport Scanner Arm Raise: Lift arms for 5 breaths, repeat 5 times; and Squat: Sit in a full squat for 60 seconds."
During Week 2, I continued to maintain a daily ruck. I also completed an extra GoRuck WOD, the "SIG", on Monday, which was 2 rounds of: 20 Sandbag Front Squats, 100m SB Right Shoulder Carry, 100m SB Left Shoulder Carry, 20 Sandbag Back Squats, 100m SB Right Shoulder Carry, 100m SB Left Shoulder Carry, 20 Sandbag Deadlifts, 100m SB Right Shoulder Carry, 100m SB Left Shoulder Carry, all with my 60-lb. Sandbag. We completed January's Ruck #8 on Tuesday, found a geocache I needed for my Jasmer, and helped a new geocacher with her first individual geocache. On Thursday, we rucked about six miles for Ruck #9 and found two more geocaches that counted toward my Jasmer Challenge. On Saturday, I completed Ruck #10, rucking from the hotel to a challenge geocache about two-ish miles away from the hotel where we are staying for RadCon (see Travel/Adventure/Doing Stuff).
Mind/Spirit/Centering/Health: I finished A New Mourning: Discovering the Gifts in Grief by Georgena Eggleston, a challenging book to read. I had attended my first online mental health CEU of 2026, Innovations in Telehealth and Digital Mental Health for Older Adults, but I have not yet received my CEU certificate of attendance. I've started studying The Art of War by Sun Tzu.
Maintenance/Shit Got To Be Done: No progress. I'm still preparing my books for my CPA. My deadline is March 1st.
In Case of Zombies/Disaster Preparation: I'm continuing Jim Cobb's Countdown to Preparedness book/assignments. Week 22 is firearms, and I still need to check, clean, and practice more with my existing gear. Week 22 is still on hold, but it's now more on my radar. I'm in good shape for Week 49, Survival and Preparedness Library. I have books on Homesteading, Food Storage, Firearms Maintenance, Wild Edibles/Medicinals, Medical, Building Trades, Wilderness Survival, and Fiction/Entertainment. I'm excited for an Emergency Communications class in early March, a wound care class, and an in-person Older Adults Go-Bag inventory preparation in February, all part of the Washington County MRC.
Base Station/Ol' Number 3: No progress.
Travel/Adventure/Doing Stuff: We went to RadCon in Pasco, WA, for a roadtrip/weekend adventure. We arrived early, so we went for some geocaching until we could check in at the hotel. Once at the Con, we attended a disappointing, disjointed class on Japanese Culture and Etiquette, and skipped the Shibari demonstration due to the small room size and the crush of people lined up to attend. I wandered around the Con and looked at stuff (there was a sweet tanto that was balanced and fit my hand and fighting style well, but was well out of my price range), watched SCA heavy combat, took a long soak in the hotel hot tub twice, drank cheap scotch in a Star Trek-themed 10 Forward two nights in a row, ate a huge plate of Chili Cheese fries two days in a row, attended a class on Consent (also a bit disorganized), and generally had a short vacation. On the way home, we stopped briefly to geocache and gather two more Washington Delorme squares.
I'm also still spending a lot of time organizing and checking credentials for the Kinkfest Medical Team, now with 34 volunteers approved on the list, and more coming slowly as they are processed through Volunteer Registration. I will need a total of 40 volunteers, 6 Shift Leads, and myself. Scheduling for shifts happens this upcoming week. I have ordered all of our critical/emergency supplies, and one of our Shift Leads will be inventorying what we'll need to order for our regular supplies. I have stocked the new harness that I'll wear to Kinkfest (with two trauma kits) and worn it successfully at RadCon.
