The latest update
Jul. 12th, 2005 07:54 pmMy Temporary Digs have just become very temporary. I just had an offer accepted for a nice, new house five minutes from my Grandmother, about 15 minutes to Salem and about 30 minutes from Corvallis. It's a new house on .50 acres, butted up to a school but the house is well away from the edge. Three bedrooms, two baths, a huge vanity, open floor plan, two-car garage, and its own new septic and well, and a well-built shed, partially fenced and fairly private. The price was dropped $18,000 from the original listing in March, possibly because it was listed incorrectly and because it's fairly hard to find. We wouldn't have been able to find it ourselves, without the navigational skills of the BF. It was, of course, the fifth house we looked at yesterday. I will be moving in about the beginning of August.
I'm back in the dojo today, after having been gone a week for most of the week to a wedding with Tamarta, and going to baseball games with my Dad. I can travel fairly well with her, and she is becoming very high on my priority lists in my life. My dissertation has been much less of a priority, and there is still no word about whether or not I am eligible for an internship this year.
This week? Lots of time catching up on voicemail, email, and work projects. Oh, and a housing inspection. And baseball. Also, I'll be leaving this Friday for CA to visit some friends.

Date: 2005-07-13 12:40 pm (UTC)So, how was that blessed occasion of sudden marital union? Did it occur in a cave or was the happy couple willing to face the light of day?

Date: 2005-07-13 04:23 pm (UTC)The bride and groom were married at their parent's house. Although an initial idea was a nude wedding, we all ended up in tuxedoes. Excellent food. :>

Date: 2005-07-13 04:30 pm (UTC)I heard about it indirectly, seeing as they've cut off ties with the majority of the human race. Although I wish them the best of luck, I also think they're going to need it. I don't see much of that much talked about "honor" in this situation. Sorry.

Date: 2005-07-13 06:59 pm (UTC)Although I don't actually know most of the specifics, I can say this: sometimes the most honorable thing is done, and not everyone understands because of bias or misinformation or poor communication.

Date: 2005-07-14 01:31 am (UTC)I may have received "misinformation" but so might you.
The information and communication that I *have* received has told me volumes. I know who's been open and I know who's been closed. I know who has shown concern for the well-being of others and I know who has hung up on me and angrily informed me that they "don't care" about my hardships because they've been focused on "important" things.
And the number one thing I've learned is that when some people use the word "family" they really mean "disposable."
I am genuinely sorry that I can't be more rainbows and unicorn, but to paraphrase Raold Dahl, I write what I see. It's my curse and my blessing.

I like how you write. I like your honesty.
