101/1001 Update
Oct. 22nd, 2020 01:21 amGratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow. - Melody Beattie
First, my brother died this morning. This journal will be somewhat sporadic as we deal with family issues. This has not been a very positive week.
Body/Martial Arts/Physical Improvement/Testing Myself: No real changes.
Mind/Spirit/Centering/Health: No real changes. I've read several novels and fiction as distractions, but I'm still working on Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail by Cheryl Strayed, Shunryu Suzuki's Zen Mind, Beginner's Mind, and Being Wrong: Adventures in the Margin of Error by Kathryn Schulz. I'm still committing to training mindfulness with my eating patterns. There are still some serious and concerning medical issues within the family, as well as my brother's death. Haiku below.
Maintenance/Shit Got To Be Done: The daily driver ended up having a water pump failure, warping the head/head gasket - an expensive fix. The Whorse, my Ranger Intercept Jeep, has the rear differential back from the shop, and we're awaiting the transmission. I completed my dental cleaning and exam, with no cavities. I'm still scheduled for a regular physical exam in the next few weeks. Still no Firefighter's Physical.
In Case of Zombies/Disaster Preparation: I've replaced all of my date-expiring cans, gone and added to my food storage inventory, added more fire extinguishing capability and extra fuel capacity, and reorganized the Staging Area to facilitate an expedited flow of supplies.
Base Station/Ol' Number 3: Still no progress on the internet connection. The Gate House has gotten all of the electrical work and the insulation done by the contractor. The septic field has one trench and a bit more of the hillside dug out for longer leach lines. Base Station received two dump truck loads of gravel last week for the driveway, the septic field, and assorted projects. Also, we picked up the 3000-gallon water tank and delivered it to the Pump House area; I hope for a concrete pad to put it on next week. No progress on painting the Gate House.
It was a stressful week at Base Station. There's some tension between the excavator operator and the contractor, we broke the container holding the pumped grey and black water tanks for Dad's RV trailer, and Faye got hurt. Faye was all right - bruised knees and the wind knocked out of her and some shock, but she had a good medical assessment on-scene, and she was back in action helping to deliver the water tank later that day.
Travel/Adventure/Doing Stuff: We did have a socially distanced geocaching adventure in Salem, finding some of the more old and highly favorited geocaches around the Fairgrounds, on Faye's birthday.

life milestone:
construction materials,
a trailer lifestyle
challenges we have!
self-care, breathing, rucking -
time we don't!
family man, brother
the smartest one of us all
Cancer just sucks.
