“The hardship of the exercises is intended less to strengthen the back than to toughen the mind. The Spartans say that any army may win while it still has its legs under it; the real test comes when all strength is fled and the men must produce victory on will alone.” ― Steven Pressfield

Body/Martial Arts/Physical Improvement/Testing Myself: Faye and I knocked out the GoRuck August workout, an AMRAP (with a Partner) in 31 minutes, with Partner A performing 8 Ruck Thrusters, 6 Rows with Knee Ups, and 11 Ruck Squats with Jump Overs while Partner B performs a 400-meter Sandbag Ruck/Run, with Partners switching after each Ruck. Faye, being Partner A, completed eleven sets of exercises and one ruck. I was Partner B, so I completed two rucks with a 45-lb. ruck and six sets of exercises during the time limit. Good training for the Spartan, with a day of recovery before the race. I've also completed five rucks (three 'light' at 35 lbs, two 'heavy' at 45 lbs.) with one light ruck left to finish. I've finished reading The Comfort Crisis by Michael Easter, completing a 101 goal that I am restarting.

I did run the very well socially-distanced and sparsely attended Spartan Race! I wasn't fast and I need work on my grip strength and may have re-injured my bicep on the 8-foot wall early in the race, but I did well on the Helix, "a metallic structure shaped like a giant X. Participants must navigate on the 70-degree and 110-degree angled walls of the Helix by using their hands and feet. Different handholds and footholds are available but beware of the plexiglass blocking some of the possible grips." I completed the race and earned the medal. *smile* Also, I note that I also completed this 101 goal since the next Spartan Race will happen after this 101 list ends. I'm rehabbing with sets of 25 pushups, crunches, and air squats.

Mind/Spirit/Centering/Health: I attended another online Midori class called Balance, Transition & Transformation: Power of Aftercare, completing yet another 101 goal. I also listened to an extra class - the live stream of the fifth edition of the Midori's Consent Dojo, where Midori was joined by Joe Zarate-Sanderlin, another therapist in the kink community. I have finished reading Creating True Peace: Ending Violence in Yourself, Your Family, Your Community, and the World by Thich Nhat Hanh. I have also read, in one sitting, Full Rip 9.0: The Next Big Earthquake in the Pacific Northwest by Sandi Doughton, a fascinating and somewhat horrifying book on the history of research, science, and lack of preparation by the Northwest US for the overdue earthquake and tsunami disasters.

Maintenance/Shit Got To Be Done: Repairs and maintenance are still ongoing with the WorkWhorse. I cleaned and sorted all of my martial arts training gear.

In Case of Zombies/Disaster Preparation: Last week, I completed the next StreetMedicine online class, ALS Abdominal Emergencies. The ALS Geriatrics class was canceled due to fire evacuation priority. This week is ALS OB and Childbirth (the rescheduled class!) and ALS Head and Spinal Trauma. I've also started the first week of Medical Emergencies: CPR, Toxicology, and Wilderness from the University of Colorado.

Base Station/Ol' Number 3: We are awaiting both river rock for the leach fields for the septic system and gravel for the driveway.

Travel/Adventure/Doing Stuff: No progress.
