"In the short term, you are as good as your intensity. In the long term, you are only as good as your consistency." - Shane A. Parrish

Body/Martial Arts/Physical Improvement/Testing Myself: I ran/walked The Run Like Hell 10K on a bright, windy day. Originally we were going to run the race at the race location, but Faye was sick and unable to race - so I ran from her place to the Buckman track, did 16 laps, and ran back. I probably covered more distance than a 10K according to my Fitbit, but this way I was sure I ran at least 10K.

Since all the scheduled tactical training and running is completed, it's time to get back to the GoRuck Challenges. I still owe September's workout, as well as all of the October tasks except for the book, and the November Challenge that dropped a day early. November's GoRuck 'Persevere' Challenge workout is the Chad 1000X, a thousand Weighted Step-ups (for Veteran Suicide Prevention), 22 miles of rucking (however we want them), with the additional tasking of "ask a Veteran what the best part of their service was," and read the book of the month A Grief Observed by CS Lewis. I've already rucked 6 of the 22 miles for November. I have participated in no Tai Chi/Qigong classes this week.

Mind/Spirit/Centering/Health: I'm still working through The Art of War by Sun Tzu from my permanent library, and Dropping the Struggle: Seven Ways to Love the Life You Have by Roger Housden, and I've picked up Inflamed by Shelly Malone. I'm engaging in another month of daily meditation.

New word: Propitiate means "to gain or regain the favor or goodwill of someone" — in other words, "to make someone pleased or less angry."

Maintenance/Shit Got To Be Done: I've taken another interesting online CEU class called Exposure Therapy: How to Treat Anxiety Disorders.

In Case of Zombies/Disaster Preparation: I've taken two more Critical Care Transport classes - Resuscitation, Shock, and Blood Products and also Advanced Trauma Assessment and Care.

Base Station/Ol' Number 3: No progress.

Adventure/Doing Stuff: We took a short 5-day trip north to the Seattle Area, visiting Faye's family, geocaching, and visiting museums and roadside attractions. We found five of the 50 Oldest Geocaches in Washington, saw the Largest Egg and the Largest Hat and Boots, a Warhol and a full-sized Space Shuttle training model, and enjoyed some exquisite Bonsai.
