The one who falls and gets up is stronger than the one who never tried. Do not fear failure but rather fear not trying. ― Roy T. Bennett

Body/Martial Arts/Physical Improvement/Testing Myself: Although I still have a minor cough, it's mostly exercise-induced asthma, controlled with an Albuterol inhaler. I trained in three Qi Gong/Yang Tai Chi classes last week and made some progress with the staff form, and one class so far this week. I picked up two 10-lb. ruck plates on sale and ordered and received a 35-lb. kettlebell. We completed the Goruck September 'Hurt' workout, which was a buy-in of a 2-mile ruck, then 10 rounds of 18 Ruck to Overheads, 18 Ruck (or) Reverse Lunges, 18 Ruck Swings, and 18 Ruck Squats, and then a cash-out of 77 Burpees with a Lateral Hop over Ruck. We split the workout evenly, both doing the 2-mile ruck, and I slapped the patch on my ruck.

October's Goruck 'Failure" Challenges are ongoing. The workout is 4 Rounds of 19 Kettlebell Ground-To-Overheads, 19 Kettlebell Front Squats, 19 Kettlebell Pushups (Each Arm), and 400-meter Carries, all while wearing your ruck. The F*CK is a Plank Hold to Failure, "Take note of your time, repeat at the end of the month and beat your time", with my first Plank Hold at 1:30. The rucking and additional challenge tasks are to, "[ru]ck with the weight you plan to wear for CHAD1000X in November. In preparation for Chad1000X, ruck uphill or up stairs (~2000 stairs = 1 mile) for a total of 5 miles per week. You can complete all 5 miles at once or break it up a mile a day for 5 days out of the week. Aim for a 20-mile total by the end of the month." I did my second 5-mile rucking requirement for the second week in two chunks - the two-mile ruck above, and a three-miler, and I'm two miles in for the third week.

Mind/Spirit/Centering/Health: I'm still reading Hope Dies Last: Keeping the Faith in Difficult Times by Studs Terkel, and Your Brain on Food: How Chemicals Control Your Thoughts and Feelings by Gary L. Wenk. I've finished Seeing the Way: An Anthology of Transcribed Talks and Essays by Monks and Nuns of the Theravada Forest Sangha Tradition, Volume Two by Munindo Bhikkhu, I'm working on Scarcity Brain: Fix Your Craving Mindset and Rewire Your Habits to Thrive with Enough by Michael Easter, the GoRuck book of the month for October, and I've also finished rereading Bushido: The Spirit of the Samurai by Inazo Nitobe. I also got in my monthly minimum Zazen meditation, on loving-kindness and equanimity.

Maintenance/Shit Got To Be Done: No progress.

In Case of Zombies/Disaster Preparation: No progress. I've signed up for a 2-day Trauma Symposium and the 3-day Oregon EMS Conference in early November.

Base Station/Ol' Number 3: There are less than 500 gallons left in the tank in the Pump House, and we'll drain what's left this week when we install the trash pump tank port for the fire suppression system. The Base Station pole barn/garage/shop geoengineering plans are almost finalized. The loggers were also rescheduled for this week.

Adventure/Doing Stuff: I spent a day in Salem visiting with Tiny and Dawn, eating some epic biscuits and gravy, and catching the end of Drum Night with Mango at Tranquilandia. I also spent an evening dancing my ass off at the VNV Nation show, with Traitrs opening for them.
