An idealist believes the short run doesn’t count. A cynic believes the long run doesn’t matter. A realist believes that what is done or left undone in the short run determines the long run. — Sydney J. Harris

Body/Martial Arts/Physical Improvement/Testing Myself: I did not train in any Qi Gong/Yang Tai Chi classes this week.

October's Goruck 'Failure' Challenges are completed. I completed the rucking and additional challenge tasks, which were to, "[ru]ck with the weight you plan to wear for CHAD1000X in November. In preparation for Chad1000X, ruck uphill or up stairs (~2000 stairs = 1 mile) for a total of 5 miles per week. You can complete all 5 miles at once or break it up a mile a day for 5 days out of the week. Aim for a 20-mile total by the end of the month." I have completed the fourth week, with a three-mile ruck. I finished reading Scarcity Brain: Fix Your Craving Mindset and Rewire Your Habits to Thrive with Enough by Michael Easter, the October GoRuck book of the month. The F*CK retest, a Plank Hold to Failure, "Take note of your time, repeat at the end of the month and beat your time," with my first Plank Hold at 1:30, was 1:36.

Mind/Spirit/Centering/Health: I'm still reading Hope Dies Last: Keeping the Faith in Difficult Times by Studs Terkel, and Your Brain on Food: How Chemicals Control Your Thoughts and Feelings by Gary L. Wenk. I finished reading Painfully Obvious: An Irreverent & Unauthorized Manual for Leather/SM by Robert Davolt, one of the books I picked up at the Kinky Library Event this month.

Maintenance/Shit Got To Be Done: No progress.

In Case of Zombies/Disaster Preparation: No progress. The Oregon EMS Conference has had to be rescheduled for sometime in the spring, but before the certification process starts.

Base Station/Ol' Number 3: No progress.

Adventure/Doing Stuff: No progress. I attended a McMenamins History Pub, where the Oregon Historical Society presented Julie Carr, on Mud, Blood & Ghosts, an interesting study of eugenics in Oregon, based on her family archives. Not very much about ghosts, in the spirit of the season, but very interesting.
