"Let us not look back in anger, nor forward in fear, but around in awareness." – James Thurber

Body/Martial Arts/Physical Improvement/Testing: We restarted the Shaolin Kung Fu classes. I'm learning new staff techniques.

January's GoRuck Tribe 'Know Thyself' Challenges have dropped and are in progress. The workout is a "1-Mile Ruck Shuffle For Time, Rest 2 minutes, 2 minutes max reps Hand Release Ruck Push-Ups, Rest 2 minutes, 2 minutes max reps Ruck Back Squats, Rest 2 minutes, and a 1/2-Mile Ruck Suitcase Carry For Time (alternate hands freely), all to be a baseline compared at the end of 2025. The rucking and additional tasking requirement is a 1-Mile Ruck every day (Any Pace or Weight), the F*CK is, a "2 Mile Ruck - Baseline weight; Test at the beginning of the month and retest at the end of the month. No music, just listen to your thoughts and breath, focus on the task at hand". The Book of the Month is Adrift: 76 Days Lost at Sea by Steven Callahan. I'm current on my daily rucks, ordered and received the book, and we've completed the first F*CK with a time of 44:30 on New Year's Day. While we were doing the F*CK, we kept going and completed a virtual 5K, the 2025 Resolution Run, with a time of 1:05:10.

Mind/Spirit/Centering/Health: I've kept progressing with the books in this entry. Still in progress: The Disaster-Ready Home: A Step-by-Step Emergency Preparedness Manual for Sheltering in Place by Creek Stewart, and Hidden in Plain Sight: Esoteric Power Training Within Japanese Martial Traditions: Tracing the Roots of Ueshiba Morihei's Power, by Ellis Amdur(editor). I've finished rereading Zen Mind, Beginner's Mind: Informal Talks on Zen Meditation and Practice by Shunryu Suzuki, and Trudy Dixon (Editor). Still on the stack: Teachings of the Tao by Eva Wong, and What the Buddha Taught by Walpola Rahula. I've 'sat' yet another virtual metta, the first of 2025. I've also started the 5 AM Club protocols, and I have noticed more time and focus on reading and planning.

In Case of Zombies/Disaster Preparation: I've started Jim Cobb's Countdown to Preparedness book/assignments to organize my Hideaway gear better and fill in the small gaps in my thinking and supplies. Week 1 was making lists of Food, Water, Tools, Medical, and Miscellaneous; every day I'm documenting/recording something in those categories into a more comprehensive master list, and finding stuff I didn't remember that I had. Week 2 was purging and replacing good with better, and using my daily rucks to deliver things I don't need to the Free Pantry/Closets in the neighborhood.

Maintenance/Shit Got To Be Done: I've renewed the registration of the Daily Driver. I've closed 2024's financial books and started preparing them for the accountant. I've scheduled my Medical appointment, but my dental appointment was moved to yearly instead of six months.

Base Station/Ol' Number 3: No progress.

Travel/Adventure/Doing Stuff: No progress.
