Hug Your Botha – The Power of Gratitude (Jeff Alexander, Warrior Spirit)

There I was, in the middle of my emotional storm. You know, one of those moments when you forget everything Spiritual and the only option that looks good is to run away. My ego was just pounding on my emotional body like war drums preparing for battle. To say what stimulated this state is irrelevant, because the stories are always the same – just different time and place. Sounds familiar? Kind of like being pressed up against The Wall with a Botha in your face, just not letting up.

Sounds familiar? Want to know what I do when I am there?

I have learned that the pain of discomfort is the signal that I am resisting something. Most of the time, it is what is right in front of me. The invisible Botha is not so easily recognized when it is disguised in daily upsets. The Botha can look like children who are needy, low cash flow, a car that won’t start or even an internet that fails to connect.

Yup, it is time to confront what is in front of me so this is what I attempt to do:

My Warrior Path of Enlightenment

1. Stop for just a moment – breathe, notice the breath. Just do this for a few inhales and a few exhales. (It takes you to the Now and makes you focus on something other than the million distractions that appear to distract you.)

2. Breathe in the Pain – Breath out the Gratitude for the Botha – This will take you back to an experience of the Leap. Connect with the memory that is still alive in every cell of your body. Remember the gift of confrontation and the gift of the Botha.

3. Acceptance of the moment – This is surrender. Surrender is not passive. It is the Berserker within you that Knows. You know that there is an opening coming, that the Botha is always there to make you grow. Just this knowing is enough. You do not have to solve or have all the answers to your circumstances at this point. In fact, you are not meant to know the answers. All you have is the capacity to know, and that is enough. You can’t see the solutions that are often right in front of your face, while you are in the Ego World of conflict and discomfort. Just wait for the opening.

4. Something Wonderful Is Coming – I repeat this to myself as often as necessary. I do this regardless of what I am feeling emotionally. This makes you look forward and not backward. Complaining comes for looking to the “Whys” and the past. This proclamation stimulates the “What do I do with this Botha, “that ignites you to look forward.

5. Practice Spiritual Patience – This is where I turn it over to God, Spirit, and Universal Source. The opening will come. When you have eyes to see, you will see it. The smell of “ego smoke” that tells you to blame, get angry or judge may still linger on your for awhile, but your Spirit will soon cleanse your soul with the fresh breeze of love, compassion and gratitude for the Botha in front of you.

6. Create three items to be Grateful for – I do this even if my body is still in the depth of contraction. “Seek and ye shall find.” If you look to gratitude, your mind begins to learn that contraction or “The Botha” is a signal to look to the light and not the dark. The brain literally cuts a new pathway that starts a new habit when stimulated by adverse conditions. This is evolution. This is your Leap of Faith.

Hope this helps.

Blessings,

Jeff Alexander
