grim23Winter has hit Salem hard, and the cold and the icy and snowy roads have necessitated a few temporary changes. Driving conditions are poor right now; even the dojo canceled classes. I made an emergency run tonight with a friend and his 4WD Jeep to the Fortress of Solitude to get Phaedrus. A 30+ minute drive over county roads is not always possible or safe, and Phaedrus needs better care than being left in a cold and empty house every weekday. Thank you, Miss Rebecca, for emergency cat-sitting.
None of my clients made it to see me for testing or counseling, and I'm glad of it. Tomorrow I'll be calling the few clients I couldn't reach today, and canceling them as well - I'll be writing reports and working out of the office, finishing my obligations before I leave for Texas this Sunday to spend Christmas with my parents.
Additionally, my truck got rear-ended when it was stuck on an icy spot this morning. Neither of us involved in the accident are hurt, and both vehicles drove away, but my bumper and right rear quarter panel including taillight are probably damaged to the point where they'll have to be replaced.
The Universe has been pointing towards my not living in the Fortress of Solitude for some time. The Fortress of Solitude is too far away from veterinary care, too far away from resources, activities, and culture, as well as not flexible enough for my lifestyle. I'm looking into property management and renting it out, and finding a small place in town, or living in the bus and working on it at the same time, a less desirable option. At least moving and storing everything I own will be accomplished easily.
