Goals Update
Oct. 25th, 2009 02:25 pmAs Samhain approaches, and leaves and acorns fall on the bus, I am reminded of how this is the time of year for seasonal change. I had a wonderful day yesterday enjoying the Oregon October weather (#43), geocaching with Nericksx and sons (#106). I have felt the need all summer to purge and simplify, and ready myself for travel. As a result, I have a very streamlined process, and a living space and gear that is well-suited to bugging out on short notice.
That notice has come. My contract with the mental health agency I work for will not be renewed, and I''ll be closing down my practice and moving to Texas to be closer to my family after the end of the year. I'll be selling or transferring my house to property management, transitioning my clients, clearing out my files, selling most of my books, and notifying the various certification boards of my intent to relocate.
There is still much to do. I've got new brakes on the pickup truck, and a more functional kitchen and pantry (#17), and plenty of food. However, I've got a transmission to fix, a yearly service to have done (#103), a system to tow the pickup truck to install, a starter switch to re-install, and tie-downs for the Harley. I have a whiteboard to-do list that will be well-used by the time I roll out of Oregon. My tentative route will be south through California (#57), and then west to Texas. I do not yet have a definitive date that I am leaving, but probably early in 2010.
