Goals/Life Update
Feb. 25th, 2010 07:20 pmFirst, I'm employed. Twice. *smile* Yesterday afternoon I was offered, and accepted, a part-time counseling and assessment position at a well-respected multidisciplinary counseling center located five minutes from my parent's house. Yesterday night I was offered, and accepted, a part-time temporary job as a furniture mover at an historical furniture store in New Braunfels after a local Mason injured his knee. This will give me some money to tide me over until the practice fills up.
Second, I learned today that I am not eligible to donate blood, because of military service in the UK from 1984 to 1986. Blood programs "must take special precautions to keep variant Creutzfeld-Jacob Disease (Mad Cow Disease) out of the blood supply by avoiding collections from those who have been where this disease is found." I did get a black long-sleeve shirt as a consolation prize. Since I am unable to complete this goal through no fault of my own, #74 on my 101/1001 list has been replaced with another goal, that of completing an Ironbutt Association (IBA) Saddlesore 1000 (a 24 hour 1,000 mile ride).
Progress with other goals: I continue to run (#1) and to train (#5, #6), although my push-up and sit-up counts remain about 35 and 60. I will be starting my first day in the Tang Soo Do dojang tomorrow (#35). My Daily Devotional Practice/Bhakti (#107) is being planned, and gear is being mailed to me. This week/end: I'm organizing my finances, and getting ready to figure out my taxes. I have several little projects to fix up 'Ol Number 3. I have paperwork and decisions to make about my practice. Now I have a reason, and the financial ability, to study for and pass the EPPP (#14). Ok, then. Time to get on it.
