Goals /LIfe Update
May. 24th, 2010 01:08 pmCompleted: 34/107
In progress: 23
Having ran the 5k in under 30 minutes, I'm now looking at the 10k (#2) and started my training runs for that this morning. I'm holding steady at 40 push-ups (#5) and 130 situps (#6), although if I pushed my sit-ups even a little bit I'll easily accomplish my goal. I am almost to the rank (#35) that will allow me to formally train with weapons in the dojang, and I will likely start with a new sword form (#9) and a new staff form (#12).
Conversations continue with much food for thought with Sienna (#13). I've just finished another martial arts/spirituality book (#62) called Clearing Away Clouds: Nine Lessons for Life From the Martial Arts, by Steven Fabian. It's a good general book that was a quick read. I was bemused to notice that most of the quotes and excepts were from books already in my library. The nine lessons: Embrace a Way, Accept Responsibility for your Actions, Control the Breath, Focus, Develop Self-Discipline, Train Hard (Seek Aesthetic Refinement), Be Patient and Flow, Persevere, and Cultivate The Mind of No-Mind. *smile* Sound familiar to anyone?
This week I'll be leaving for Flipside and taking 'Ol Number 3 to yet another Burner Event (#43). Medical supplies from 'Ol Number 3's stores have already proceeded us to the event, due to an immediate need. 'Ol Number 3 has also gotten a CB radio installed, and I'm soon going to be testing for an Amateur Radio Technician license and then installing a 2-meter rig as well. Thanks to Amazon for the antenna, and for the hand-held CB. It's much better than the antenna I bought. I can haz a better signal!
After Flipside, I'll be back for a week before I go on a road trip with my mother for almost two weeks. We'll be going to Washington, DC to visit some family friends after a recent funeral. Family issues continue, although I'm getting a clearer conceptualization over time, and I've talked to Kristi and others about my thoughts and feelings/pheelings - and I've called for the big guns for a consultation.
Finally, I'm beginning to re-read Millman's Peaceful Warrior series (#28) and becoming aware of the reasons why my mindful eating practice (#26) has not gone as well as planned. OK, then. I may need another fast and some more internal exploration for my food cravings. Ho, ho.
