Since my running coach is back in town, I'm back to running (#2). I ran/walked about a 5k, and I need to rebuild some endurance and speed. It's day 2 of my 28-day mindful eating cycle (#26). Additionally, the Instructors in the dojang, at my request, have increased the number of pushups (#5) and crunches (#6) in our daily exercises. I'm tired and a bit groggy and I know I'm detoxing from sugar and carbs. I'm considering weekly one-day fasts to hasten the process.
I've finished Extreme Spirituality by Tolly Burkan (#62), the father of the American firewalking movement. Sienna, as well as all of the tantrics on this list - you may want to read this book. The whole book is about different concepts and exercises to overcome Ego and fear, and accomplish the 'impossible' (walking on fire, breaking boards, etc.) by suspending and reprogramming the Ego brain state. Next I plan to read Kabot-Zinn's book on mindfulness, and study both my student handbook for my upcoming belt promotion test and continue studying my Technician class Amateur Radio License study guide. I'd like to be licensed before Burning Man.
Sometime this weekend, I'm looking forward to a visit with Julie, who is returning my pickup truck. Loading gear in my truck will free up some space in 'Ol Number 3, and then packing for Burning Man can begin in earnest. I hope to send most of my gear up with friends and have it on-playa before I get there. I'll be in Austin with her and friends some of this next week, perhaps doing a bit of geocaching and sightseeing, and upgrading the gauges on my body jewelry to withstand the increases in my physical activity.
