Aug. 19th, 2010 06:03 pmAll of my gear going to Burning Man has been packed and sent. It'll arrive on the playa a week before me. All of my gear going to CA is packed and is waiting. A geopack, training gear, a Utilikilt, and a few clothes are all I'm taking. I'm leaving Saturday morning.
Where am I on my list? I have made progress. I have completed a time of mindful eating, and I continue that practice. Pushups (#5) and situps (#6) are still a daily occurrence, and I'm in shape enough to run a 10k (#2). I will continue to train the staff forms (#12). Sleep has been a bit off for me this week (#97), and not likely to get better, but has progressed. I've re-read some of my library (#28), and read some new books (#62). I have written some haiku (#69). I have helped someone at least once, randomly and anonymously (#79). Bench pressing twice my body weight (#4), getting fire cannons installed on my chopper (#34), and my physical exam (#49) have simply not happened. Money, time, and the health of my mechanic have put these on hold until after the Burn.
This is usually about the time of year when I'm ready to burn, and this year is no different - although what is different is my sense of peace and calm. I have been very blessed this year. So much has happened, both positive and negative, and I have been an agent of change in he Universe. Although there is always more to do and more to learn, and more challenges to face and joy to experience, it's time to burn this last year and arise from the ashes - and do it again.
