So, less than 24 hours after I get home from AZDC, I'm driving back to the Fortress of Solitude on the same roads ... in a 28-foot converted school bus. She's a 1979 International, with a Blue Bird Body and a fully functional hydraulic lift for lifting in motorcycles. Nearly everything has been rebuilt in the last four years or so, including the engine, carburetor, radiator, air compressor for the brakes, and drive train, with about 6,000 miles on the rebuild. It's got an HC tag, so it can be driven with a regular class C license as long as you don't have more than 15 passengers.

All the original seats have been removed and replaced by four couches and a lazy-boy recliner, which will be stripped out and put in the Fortress. It's got a 20' roof rack with a removable railing and removable racks to hold 20 bicycles, as well as pretty much everyone else's stuff for next year's Burn. It comes with a table that can be removed and put down to make a large bed in the back, and a "kitchen" on wheels, with a sink to wash hands in, a keg tap, and a spot for a camping stove. It's currently kept on the handicap lift, but I'll likely either sell it and replace it or relocate it. It also comes with sand tanks that dump sand in front of the back wheels for traction if necessary.

Kudos to Maverick for finding it, and mechanical and technical assistance, and for humor throughout, and to the lovely Rebecca for chase car and I-5 blocking, as well as late-night Shari's conversation.
