Today I went on a longer geohike, with the goal of hunting the geocache located on the property of the House of the Temple, the headquarters of the Supreme Council, of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite, Southern Jurisdiction. It's a huge temple, the national headquarters of the Supreme Council since 1915. The Grand Lodge of the District of Columbia laid the cornerstone in 1911, and the building was completed in 1915. Its architecture is an adaptation of the famous Mausoleum at Halicarnassus, one of the “Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.” Everything is built to masonic form and order.

After finding the cache, there was a secret code inside the cache log - which I presented to the Scottish Rite staff, and was gifted an Albert Pike commemorative brass coin. As there was a tour available, I took it, and spent more than an hour seeing and feeling the power of one of the biggest masonic temples in the United States. Besides Albert Pike being buried in the temple, and all of the incredible masonic history, there was also one of the largest masonic research libraries in the United States (including the oldest known masonic book), and all of Albert Pike's original books.

Pretty impressive. Kudos to the Scottish Rite for sponsoring a geocache and for the tour. :>
