Goals/Life Update
Oct. 11th, 2010 10:26 amYesterday, I went hiking with a new geocacher and a newer geocacher and we found most of the caches on the other half of the Slaughter Creek Greenbelt (#43), and geekery happened when I belatedly found out it was the Geocaching Global Geocaching Challenge and I got a 10-10-10 souvenir for my profile. *grin* Yep, I'm an icon whore.
In other news, I continue to train for the Livestrong 5k on the 23rd in Austin, and the Wurst 5-miler on the 30th in New Braunfels. That sets me up very strongly for a TBA 10K run in November (#2), and also for a half-marathon before the end of the year (#3). I'm back up to 40 pushups (#5) and 100 situps (#6), and I'm planning on restarting my training with the bo (#12), now that the belt testing cycle in the dojang has abated.
I have a lot of almost completed goals. I am almost complete with my sleeping goal (#97), but I've been having problems staying asleep for more than two REM cycles as I adjust to new gear and to less caffiene. I'm learning about brahmacarya (#13). I've almost completed my new book list (#62), although I've gotten distracted by re-reading Zen and The Art of Motorcycle Maintenance (#28). Somehow, it feels necessary to read this book first.
I have an orientation meeting for a potential new practice on Saturday the 16th. My practice in New Braunfels effectively ends the 15th. I will probably be hitting the ground running with my new practice, as I need to generate some money pretty quickly in order to pay some looming bills. I've still not heard from my uncommunicative tenant, and I will likely be forced to start expensive legal proceedings in order to be able to salvage any financial possibilities. I will also be completing some CEUs (#41) to maintain my Oregon license and keep it active, just in case.
Ol' Number 3 is getting her yearly service soon (#103), as well as a replaced cracked manifold, and she is being totally revamped on the inside. I have re-secured and rebuilt the closet and I'll be rebuilding the whole sleeping area and living area over the winter. I am continuing the purge of what I'm really not using and is just taking up space.
OK, time for my morning run and pushups. EDIT: Post-run, I had toast and fruit. With Pecan Butter (#66). Yum. *smile*
