Goals/Life Update - Day 835/1001
Jan. 15th, 2014 12:36 amGreat leaders inspire. They maintain a hopeful attitude, even in the face of discouraging setbacks, constant criticism and abundant opposition. People don't follow discouraged leaders. They follow those who persist with hope. - Rick Warren
Goals Completed: 32
Goals in Progress: 30
I’ve heard from the Addiction Counselor Certification Board of Oregon, and my application was accepted. I’m all set to test in March. The American Red Cross has also contacted me about volunteering, and I’m working on completing my training and getting connected for my disaster response specialization (#49). We’ve met with Clatskanie CERT this week and handed in our applications. No word yet from Columbia County Mental Health; I’ve followed up this week.
I’ve cleared out another layer of junk from the woodshed, and moved some of the salvageable firewood to the garage. I’ve also cut 14 tires that were taking up a lot of space, and I’ll be turning them into the start of the tire garden. I’ve also cleared out and organized a big chunk of the garage, including hanging bicycles, that’s big enough to actually allow the truck to be parked in the empty space. I’ve also found enough pieces of the front porch railing to repair the formerly rotting front porch. Repairing the front railing has been a priority, as Steph’s dog has developed cataracts and we don’t want Kuno falling from the top of the porch because of his reduced vision. He’s already had one emergency vet visit after tumbling down the stairs in the house, but now there’s a baby gate for his safety and barriers where he might fall through on the deck.
Steph’s dad recalibrated the treadmill and got it working, and I found out just how far I’ve gotten out of shape. I managed to run (#3) two 16-minute miles, but my time and my distance will quickly improve with regular running. I’ll be adding push-ups and sit-ups (#5, #6) back to the mix this week. I’ve eaten a new food, maple panna cotta, with apple butter and hazelnuts (#68), but I’m working on generally eating better. I’ve also scheduled a physical exam (#85) and a dental exam (#84).
