Goals/Life Update - Day 908/1001
Mar. 30th, 2014 05:32 pmWhen one door closes, another opens; but we often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door that we do not see the one which has opened for us. - Alexander Graham Bell
Goals Completed: 37
Goals in Progress: 25
The seedlings are still coming up in two of the four starters, and the herbs are starting to come up as well. I found and removed the first slug of the year from the fennel sprouts in the greenhouse. The peppers are taking their sweet time about sprouting, but no hurry. The beans that I planted outside were washed up to the surface by the rain, and some were eaten by the birds, so I planted the remaining bean seeds in planters in the greenhouse and I’ll put them out when they’re too big for the birds.
I’d gotten another yard of topsoil delivered, and I’ve filled all of the remaining tires in the upper garden. I had a bit of topsoil left, so I filled topsoil in an eight-tire flower garden by the fig tree. I’ve still got enough topsoil left to hill the potatoes when it’s time, but I haven’t yet planted them.
I spent a good hour clearing out and widening the ditch by the garage. I hope to eventually divert the runoff entirely away from the garden path and into the lower field. This will be a long, dirty, and muddy project, but I hope to have it done by summer.
I’ve dared a friend and her daughter that for every mile she walks, I’ll do 25 pushups, and for every mile the daughter walks, I’ll do 25 crunches. Today she walked 1.92 miles, and the daughter walked 2.14 miles, so I owe them roughly 50 and 50 (#5, #6).
I got the notification I passed the MAC Exam, and I’ll be following up with the Addiction Counselor Certification Board of Oregon tomorrow. I’ve also got a couple of new clients tomorrow, and it’ll be a long day.
I spent two days this week learning about a variety of useful things – a day at the 2014 Regional Citizen Corps Expo, learning about Community Sheltering and renewing my Skywarn/Weather Spotter certification, and a day at the Red Cross with the Disaster Action Team, learning about the new DAT casework process and completing Psychological First Aid, the last mandatory class for Disaster Mental Health. Having completed all the required training, and having been assigned to both a Disaster Action Team and a Disaster Mental Health Team on a regular rotation, I’m calling this goal (#49) completed.
