Goals/Life Update - Day 228/1001
Feb. 14th, 2015 01:26 pmAll that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing. - Edmund Burke
Goals Completed: 6
Goals in Progress: 27
Last weekend Steph and I went to see a performance of the Barber of Seville, put on at the Walters Cultural Arts Center by the Portland Opera (#36), and last night we went to the Clinton Street Theater to see The Art of Bellydance (#36), a showcase presentation on the different styles and types of bellydancing. Also yesterday, I found more Grimm geocaches (#86).
In somewhat unexpected news, the Firefighter 1 Academy for the local volunteer Fire Department starts February 22nd, and I have been accepted. This will be a 10-weekend intensive course that will teach me everything from being a Hazmat First Responder to Search and Rescue to Extrication to Forcible Entry, and lead to certification as a Firefighter 1. A new goal, numbered 67.
Now that I have a great incentive to get into shape, I have gotten back into training (#01, #10) again. Now that the school has settled in its new location, and the smaller school has meant more opportunities for applications, refinement of technique, and more personal instruction. I’m continuing my daily meditation practice (#22), and I’m now doing 40 push-ups and sit-ups (#07, #08) in sets.
Next week will be a busy week, as I’ll be changing my client schedules, and attending a 12-CEU conference on Oregon problem gambling (#41), and attending my first Fire Department Drill.
