Goals/Life Update - Day 805/1001
Sep. 13th, 2016 08:02 am“Courage is found in action. It has to be learned - and earned.” - Doug Hall
Goals Completed: 25
Goals in Progress: 25
So, I actually went to Burning Man (#91) this year. I Rangered for the 7th year, but I didn’t work for CIT as I have in the past. Instead, I was a Firefighter (#68). There was a lot less stress, a lot less issues, and I actually enjoyed Burning Man. I saw the art on the playa, I attended four geocaching events, and I had a lot of fun. I read two books, The Peaceful Warrior (#17) that I had brought with me to finish, and Deepak Chopra’s The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success (#18) that I found at a free library. I rode my bicycle a lot (#9). I stopped at Summer Lake Hot Springs twice, on the way there and on the way back (#92), and had a relatively peaceful reentry to ‘Reality Camp’.
I wrote my usual haiku at the Temple (#19), mentored a new awesome Green Dot Ranger, and stood on the line as a VIP Wrangler Sandman for both the Man and Temple Burns. I patrolled the city, learned to operate a fire line on both Engine 3 and Engine 9 (#68), and facilitated the Rangers fixing Engine 9 when she was full of dust (thanks again, Ranger Shrek!). I worked a graveyard shift post-Temple Burn with Ranger Sleepy, and earned another comp ticket for next year. I ate excellent brisket, granola bars, MREs, and commissary food. I drank good bourbon, a pickleback, and Ranger Gatorade.
Upcoming plans: engaging in my yearly fast (#15), planning for my birthday, getting back to advanced Tai Chi classes (#01, #10) this week, finishing my Psychology Licensure application (#39), and more puttering around Ol’ Number 3 and putting away the rest of the gear from Burning Man. There will likely be a hike or something outside (#92) to take advantage of the last of the nice weather.
