101/1001 Update
Aug. 4th, 2020 02:43 pmCourage is the art of being the only one who knows you’re scared to death. - Earl Wilson
Body/Martial Arts/Physical Improvement/Testing Myself: I've made progress on the 100 pushups a day challenge (I've done a few days of four sets of 25, with an extra set of 25 - now I'm at 3 sets of 33 reps, with an extra set of 33). I'm still taking daily long walks in the neighborhood with my GoRuck bag, and the 20-pound weight has been added to the ruck. I've made good progress with the Oregon Coast Run/Walk/Bike Challenge.
Mind/Spirit/Centering/Health: I've finished Sacred Hoops, by Phil Jackson. I'm still reading Budoshoshinshu by Daidoji Yuzan, from my permanent library; it's another of those books you read a parable and then have to digest and process it before you go into the next. I have started When Breath Becomes Air, by Dr. Paul Kalanithi, a posthumous memoir about his life and illness, battling stage IV metastatic lung cancer, for my second book on my psychology-related list. I've also started reading Stitches: A Handbook on Meaning, Hope and Repair by Anne LaMott, for my Spirituality list. I'm still training mindfulness with my eating patterns, and I note that I've dropped my daily calorie intake to an average of under 1900 calories a day, and still making increases to my activity level. I'm less hungry, and I'm turning down sweets. More Haiku!
Maintenance/Shit Got To Be Done: The daily driver vehicle goes in Wednesday for its service and repair. I'm looking forward to the long ruck home after I drop it off at my mechanic's shop.
In Case of Zombies/Disaster Preparation: No progress.
Base Station/Ol' Number 3: The internet and phone lines for Base Station are installed from the Gate House to the street, but the internet provider still has to dig and finish the fiber optic cable, and is MIA, despite voicemails and an online chat. *sigh* They said that, "I will need to wait until they contact [me]." The work on the automatic gate opener is done, except for one part still coming in the mail. The base for the RV hookup is in place, and all of the electrical work for the gate opener and the RV hookup to the Gate House is complete. I need to order the wire for the hookup, and then that will be done. Lots of trench digging and posthole digging = functional fitness. *smile*
I hope to start on the non-potable water system this week. My herb garden is starting to sprout. My planter boxes for a Fall garden may be ready for pick up this week. I also want to cut back all of the brush around the trailer, the Gate House, and Ol' Number 3 to create at least a Level 2 defensible space, in case of fire. I need to get bids for the concrete work for the base of the Pump House, the large vehicle pad, and the antenna base.
Travel/Adventure/Doing Stuff: No progress.
