What gets measured gets improved. - Unknown

Body/Martial Arts/Physical Improvement/Testing Myself: I've plateaued on the 100 pushups a day challenge; I'm still at 2 sets of 50 reps, with two extra sets of 50. I haven't been at the Staging Area much, or working on my fitness goals - Base Station goals have out-prioritized them. The days are getting shorter and the night colder - Fall is almost here, and I've got to get the outside 'water in - water out' infrastructure done before it's rainy and freezing. Lots of shoveling, machete-wielding, and carrying heavy things up hills, have given me some muscle increases, especially in my arms, chest, and hips.

When I'm in Portland, I'm still taking daily long rucks in the neighborhood with my GoRuck bag, mostly at night after my clients, but I did have an enjoyable ruck/walk reconnecting with a delightful friend. I've finished the Oregon Coast Run/Walk/Bike Challenge. The swag for the Virtual Spartan Race 2.0 came in the mail this week, and I hope to run it this Wednesday morning. I've signed up for a couple of virtual races - one in September for prostate cancer research, and in October for World Central Kitchen. Go Team Park Sharks!

Mind/Spirit/Centering/Health: I'm still working on Shunryu Suzuki's Zen Mind, Beginner's Mind from my permanent library, and I still haven't really started Search and Rescue by Dr. Christopher Van Tilburg for my disaster preparation list. There hasn't been much time for reading during the day, and I have been too exhausted to read at night. On my psychology-related list, I have picked up Being Wrong: Adventures in the Margin of Error by Kathryn Schulz. I continue to train mindfulness with my eating patterns.

Maintenance/Shit Got To Be Done: No progress.

In Case of Zombies/Disaster Preparation: No progress.

Base Station/Ol' Number 3: The internet and phone lines for Base Station are awaiting the County for a Right of Way Permit - but it may still be that we may have service in "two weeks", two weeks ago. We should see somebody out this week installing the line under the road, hopefully. The RV hookup project for the Base Station large vehicle bay is done, and the extra power cords have been secured. The non-potable water project is also complete, and I have 30-50 PSI of non-potable water available to wash Ol' Number 3, or use for irrigation, and other tasks. My only limit in non-potable water is the amount of water in the cistern, and this is the slowest time of year for groundwater recharging, so I'm paying attention to the output. We're learning the system and its capacity, and we've even repaired an outlet hose that was leaking and lowering the pressure in the system.

We got the excavator back at Base Station for some more work. Right now, all of the available non-potable water (about 200 gallons/day) is wetting down the excavated drainfield daily to compact the soil. The excavator has cleared and mostly leveled 50 feet of the space (formerly a steep brush-covered hill), which is all of the septic tank and the distribution box, and about 30 feet of the leach lines. The excavator will be out next week to clear and level more space. The excavator also did all of the rough work of cutting a trench across the driveway, and then I finished the trench, sloped and packed the french drain water line, and then the excavator backfilled the driveway - finishing that project.

The excavator also dug a hole for the ham radio antenna base, and The Old Man and I position-checked it, and it's ready for the concrete. We brought out the first two 10-foot sections of the antenna for when that happens. The excavator also cleared and terraced the hill under the Pump House and cleared more dirt away from the Gate House, excavating out the hill, and removed all of the old huge hunks of concrete and the broken cistern lid in the old remains of the old pump house except for the steps. The Old Man and I spent a day and a half leveling, clearing dirt and space, and staking and lining out the Pump House, and it's also just about ready for concrete.

My planter boxes for a Fall garden were placed, but their location doesn't get much morning sun - so I'll likely be relocating them to the drain field area once the septic system is finished, where they'll at least get more sun. My weed control cloth and my deer netting have been delivered. My herb garden is doing well, although the Basil is growing slowly. We continue to make good progress towards cutting back the brush around the trailer, the Gate House, and Ol' Number 3 to create at least a Level 2 defensible space. We're about 80 percent there. I will be working on getting bids for the concrete work for the large vehicle pad this week.

We also moved a firewood pile to where we can use it, got out fire permit for the year as well as our green reflective address sign, moved a lot of brush to the slash pile, cleared a lot of blackberries and thimbleberries away from the gate/entrance so the Old Man can see better pulling out, got rid of a lot of trash/debris, created a grill stand out of some old concrete blocks, and collected our first apple for 'Everything But the Stem' Fruit Orchards.

Still left: cutting down a tree in the drainfield, getting and installing the tanks/plumbing for the Pump House and the septic system, as well as the distribution box and leach lines, including sand and gravel, washing Ol' Number 3, painting the exterior of the Gate House, and getting gravel on the driveway after the excavator and concrete trucks have finished, all before the rains come.

Travel/Adventure/Doing Stuff: No progress.
