Effective leadership is putting first things first. Effective management is discipline, carrying it out. - Steven Covey

Body/Martial Arts/Physical Improvement/Testing Myself: I completed the Spartan Race VR 2.0; it's still 20 bodyweight exercises and a 5K or equivalent. This time, I decided to ruck the 5K with 25 pounds in the ruck instead of running. I finished the 20 bodyweight exercises almost 5 minutes faster than this first race, and rucking took only 12 minutes longer than running, with a fast march pace. I'm adding the Spartan bodyweight exercises to my pushup challenge instead of the two extra sets of pushups to hopefully break my plateau. I probably need to add a bit of yoga and maybe add more to my usual stretching routine. I've signed up for the 2021 Spartan and Rugged Maniac Races. Of course, at Base Station, I'm continuing shoveling, cutting brush, carrying heavy things up hills, and tamping dirt.

Mind/Spirit/Centering/Health: No changes. I'm still training mindfulness with my eating patterns. No time for reading!

Maintenance/Shit Got To Be Done: No progress.

In Case of Zombies/Disaster Preparation: No progress.

Base Station/Ol' Number 3: For the second week, we got the excavator back at Base Station for some more work. The excavator has cleared and mostly leveled 80 feet of the space, and we should be actually digging out a hole for the septic tank, the distribution box, and the leach lines next week. The Old Man and I cut down a tree in the drainfield and cut back more brush by the gate. All of the finish work for the electrical panels and the non-potable water system was completed. We bought all of the paint for the exterior of the Gate House.

The internet and phone lines subcontractors for Base Station have the Right of Way Permit - and now they just have to 'schedule' us. *sigh* The non-potable water project was replumbed this week to get the underground power and water lines from the RV hookup and the Gate House inside the Pump House building (so they don't have to be as insulated) - but we broke a line excavating it, and it had to be dug up more and then repaired. After digging, backfilling, and tamping every six inches of dirt - it's been fixed and in the right place for the floor plan of the Pump House. We are still using all of the water from the cistern to wet down all of the loose dirt in the drain field and the construction zones to compact it a bit.

All of the brush that is within 30 feet of Ol' Number 3, the trailer, the Gate House, and the Pump House has been removed, creating a level 2 fire defensive spacing - and completing that project. Additionally, we cut a vehicle-wide trail that goes the length of the defensive space higher on the ridge of the hill, both giving a future excellent tactical fire response from the Pump House, and giving the Old Man an easier time of navigating the property. We're calling it the 'Old Man Trail' in his honor. The excavator also cleared and terraced the hill under the Pump House as well as clearing more dirt away from the Pump House, making a much bigger and more level space, and protecting it from landslides. It just needs some shovel work and lining and staking to again be ready for concrete.

My herb garden is doing overall well, although the Basil is not thriving. My garden boxes are still stacked and out of the way of the excavator.

Still left: getting and installing the tanks/plumbing for the Pump House and the septic system, as well as the distribution box and leach lines, including sand and gravel, washing Ol' Number 3, painting the exterior of the Gate House, and getting gravel on the driveway after the excavator and concrete trucks have finished, all before the rains come.

Travel/Adventure/Doing Stuff: I found two geocaches on two of the four days in September I need to complete the Found by Found Days Challenge.
