“It irritates me to be told how things have always been done. I defy the tyranny of precedent. I cannot afford the luxury of a closed mind.” - Clara Barton

Body/Martial Arts/Physical Improvement/Testing Myself: I finished the GoRuck July additional tasking. I again got this month done on the afternoon of the 2nd of the next month, but this time it was more about scheduling and family visiting. I slapped the patch on my ruck.

This week, I will train for the Spartan Race this Saturday. I will be running this race by myself.

The August GoRuck 'Suffer' Challenge dropped slightly late this month. The workout is an AMRAP (with a Partner) in 31 minutes, with Partner A performing 8 Ruck Thrusters, 6 Rows with Knee Ups, and 11 Ruck Squats with Jump Overs while Partner B performs a 400-meter Sandbag Ruck/Run, with Partners switching after each Run. The rucking requirement is 6 2-mile rucks (2 of those 6 rucks scaled up in weight, for me, to 45 lbs). We are to read The Comfort Crisis by Michael Easter. The additional tasking this month is "Volunteerism. Find a good cause and donate a block of your time, asking nothing in return".

Mind/Spirit/Centering/Health: I finished my daily meditation for the month of July.

Maintenance/Shit Got To Be Done: I picked up the daily driver and dropped off the WorkWhorse for regular maintenance. The WorkWhorse had her catalytic converter replaced, and additional security plans are now in place to make it more difficult for someone to steal it again. The local homeless camp was swept - but I'm sure they'll quickly be back.

In Case of Zombies/Disaster Preparation: I've completed the next StreetMedicine online class, ALS Pediatric Emergencies. Only one class this week. I've signed up for another Coursera course, Medical Emergencies: CPR, Toxicology, and Wilderness from the University of Colorado.

Base Station/Ol' Number 3: My sister-in-law, nephew, and niece visited this week and we had a great visit. *smile* After they left, I started digging and got all of the trench dug and the RV dump line in the ground. By the end of the day, it was all backfilled except for the last 10 feet (left open so we can connect it to the septic system). We also had the electrician come over and we wired in all six remaining electrical receptacles in the Pump House, and I gained a new skill in how to add another electrical receptacle if needed. Faye did a great job of clearing a lot of brush in the fire perimeter and in the 'living room'. We also dumped all of the grey and blackwater tanks and disposed of a lot of garbage. Not bad for less than a full day of work!

Travel/Adventure/Doing Stuff: No progress.
