101/1001 Update
Oct. 1st, 2021 04:51 pmOf all the diversions of life, there is none so proper to fill up its empty spaces as the reading of useful and entertaining authors. - Joseph Addison
Body/Martial Arts/Physical Improvement/Testing Myself: I have participated in two different hour-long Tai Chi/Qigong classes this week. I have also started getting some running in; I have two 5Ks on the same day and a 10K this month. We have finished Fall and Rise: The Story of 9/11 by Mitchell Zuckoff, the GoRuck Challenge required reading. We still have the workout left to complete before we can get started on the October GoRuck 'Chaos' Challenge - it finally dropped. The rucking requirement is a Cashout 4X (after 4 separate workouts in the month) of a 1-mile Ruck, at max weight, included in the workout. The workout of the month is the 'Mog Mile WOD', 4 Rounds of 19 Ground to Overhead, 19 Front Squats, 19 Push-ups each arm (one hand on sandbag or ruck at all times, left then right for a total of 38), and a 400 M Ruck. The workout can be completed with a Ruck or Sandbag, but you must "treat the sandbag or ruck as your battle buddy and keep one hand on it throughout the entire workout. If you let go of contact, you must start the round over". The additional tasking is to "write a love letter, put a stamp on it, and mail it to them", and the book this month is Blackhawk Down: A Story of Modern War by Mark Bowden.
Mind/Spirit/Centering/Health: I've finished my daily meditation practice for September. I'm reading for fun Good Omens, a novel by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett, and rereading The Art of War by Sun Tzu from my permanent library.
New word: Univerbation is the process by which a fixed collocation of words becomes a single word, in the way that goodbye evolved from “God be with you,” and albeit derived from “although it be.”
Maintenance/Shit Got To Be Done: The daily driver is back in the shop for a rear seal leak and getting a rack installed on top to increase my carrying capacity. More gear has been moved from Portland Storage to be sorted and transferred to Base Station. I've scheduled my COVID-19 booster.
In Case of Zombies/Disaster Preparation: I'm still waiting to see if they open the station to volunteers soon. I have completed a second Critical Care Transport class, Advanced Practice Patient Assessment I.
Base Station/Ol' Number 3: My QSL cards for the HAM station are in the proof stages. I've ordered three more yards of gravel. I hope to finish the Pump House and get two coats of paint on the Gate House before the full winter rains come.
Travel/Adventure/Doing Stuff: A roadtrip is planned for this weekend!
