101/1001 Update
Sep. 27th, 2021 08:45 amThere is really no such thing as bad weather, only different kinds of good weather. - John Ruskin
Body/Martial Arts/Physical Improvement/Testing Myself: I have participated in three different hour-long Tai Chi/Qigong classes. We have also completed the 13-miler rucking requirement, at baseline weight (30 lbs.), land-navigating through NE Portland by way of 24 different Free Libraries and several free boxes. We are most of the way through Fall and Rise: The Story of 9/11 by Mitchell Zuckoff, the GoRuck Challenge required reading. We still have the workout left to complete.
Mind/Spirit/Centering/Health: I'm continuing my daily meditation practice. I've finished Everything is F*cked: A Book About Hope by Mark Manson, Animal: The Autobiography of a Female Body by Sara Pascoe, Scent of the Missing: Love and Partnership with a Search-and-Rescue Dog by Susannah Charleson, and The Places That Scare You: A Guide to Fearlessness in Difficult Times by Pema Chödrön. This completes another goal.
New word: Hygge means "a cozy quality that makes a person feel content and comfortable".
Maintenance/Shit Got To Be Done: The daily driver is back in the shop for a rear seal leak and getting a rack installed on top to increase my carrying capacity. I have scheduled my yearly physical exam.
In Case of Zombies/Disaster Preparation: I'm waiting to see if they open the station to volunteers soon. I have two more Critical Care Transport classes this week, Flight Physiology and Advanced Practice Patient Assessment I.
Base Station/Ol' Number 3: We had my nephew come out and work with us, and we got a coat of primer and the first coat of paint (and the second coat on two walls) of the Pump House this weekend. He and The Old Man have also cut back the grass and weeds around the gate for better visibility, and I had previously spread around all of the three yards of gravel on the turnaround. I'll be ordering more gravel. I hope to finish the Pump House and get two coats of paint on the Gate House before the winter rains come.
Travel/Adventure/Doing Stuff: No progress.
