“We are so engaged in doing things to achieve purposes of outer value that we forget the inner value, the rapture that is associated with being alive, is what it is all about." - Joseph Campbell

Body/Martial Arts/Physical Improvement/Testing Myself: The December GoRuck 'Sacrifice' Challenge has dropped. The workout is 80 push-ups and a 1-mile Ruck to start, then 12 Rounds alternating with 7 Sandbag clean and press, 41 Flutterkicks on odd rounds, and 41 Mountain climbers on even rounds, and then a 1-mile ruck plus sandbag, and 80 'slick' (no ruck) push-ups to finish. The rucking requirement is to ruck every day this month - "you pick the distance, weight, and time" and also to complete one Heavy 12-Miler (Baseline + 20% or Double Baseline if ready). The additional tasking is to, "write down the answer to something you've been thinking about for far too long", and the book to read this month is Man's Search For Meaning by Viktor Frankl. I've already reread the book for this month, taking that off my plate. *smile* So far, the daily rucks have ranged anywhere from a little under a mile to four miles.

We are already planning and scheduling the integrating of October's challenge tasks, and we have finished one of the four workouts - with another scheduled for this week. October's 'Chaos' Workouts are 4 Rounds of 19 Ground to Overhead Thrusters, 19 Front Squats, 19 Push-ups for each arm, one hand on sandbag or ruck at all times, and then 400-meter Rucks. We used our rucks this round, with the caution to "treat the sandbag or ruck as your battle buddy and keep one hand on it throughout the entire workout. If you let go of contact, you must start the round over." After 4 separate workouts in the month, we will knock out a 1-Mile Ruck at Max Weight for the rucking requirement. The workout rucks count twice for our December rucking requirement for that day, and they'll be good training for the December workout and the 12-mile heavy ruck.

I have participated in one Tai Chi/Qigong class since my last entry. We have also signed up for the F*CK 2021! New Year's 10K Run.

Mind/Spirit/Centering/Health: I'm still reading The Art of War by Sun Tzu from my permanent library, and Dropping the Struggle: Seven Ways to Love the Life You Have by Roger Housden, but now I've picked up Final Exam: A Surgeon's Reflections on Mortality by Pauline W. Chen, and Kill as Few Patients as Possible: And 56 Other Essays on How to Be the World's Best Doctor by Oscar London. Although I didn't sit Zazen in November, I have virtually sat Zazen once this month (so far).

New words: Fomite means an object (such as a dish, doorknob, or article of clothing) that may be contaminated with bacteria or viruses and serve in their transmission. Oneirataxia is a symptom where one person is incapable of distinguishing between fantasy and reality.

Maintenance/Shit Got To Be Done: I attended a 3-hour Harm Reduction/Ethics CEU class, Harm Reduction, Explored: Making Unsafe Behavior Safer in the Clinical Setting. I have scheduled a diagnostic colonoscopy in February and a dental cleaning/check-up in January.

In Case of Zombies/Disaster Preparation: I have two more Critical Care Transport Provider Course classes scheduled this week, GI/GU Assessment and Treatment and Endocrine Assessment and Treatment - and that completes a goal. I'll still keep taking the classes, though. I'm also applying for Master Gardener training.

Base Station/Ol' Number 3: We're continuing some small progress with permits, with the septic system permit application received and paid for, thanks to The Old Man. The WorkWhorse still has a flat tire.

Adventure/Doing Stuff: No progress.
