101/1001 Update
Apr. 2nd, 2023 11:55 pmMartial Arts/Physical Improvement/Testing Myself: I'm continuing a mostly daily routine, with two sets minimum of 30 pushups, and three sets of grippers on days I'm in my office. Most days now I'm still adding a third set of pushups or a set of air squats. I have trained in three Yang Style Tai Chi/Qigong classes this last week, and I am continuing to make small progress with the beginning of the Yang 13 Palms Staff form.
For March's GoRuck 'Luck' Challenge tasks, we still only have the workout left to complete for the month. Due to an injury to my finger (see below), we'll have to get this workout done once I've healed. April's GoRuck Challenge has dropped, and we'll have our work cut out for us.
Mind/Spirit/Centering/Health: I've carried them around but haven't opened a book. I'm almost finished reading How to Be Compassionate: a Handbook for Creating Inner Peace and a Happier World by The Dalai Lama XIV and Jeffrey Hopkins. I'm still reading Hope Dies Last: Keeping the Faith in Difficult Times by Studs Terkel, Your Brain on Food: How Chemicals Control Your Thoughts and Feelings by Gary L. Wenk, and Kodo: Ancient Ways: Lessons in the Spiritual Life of the Warrior/Martial Artist by Kensho Furuya. The 16 Precepts Classes have continued, and I have completed my second and third classes and writing assignments, and I'm rewriting the fourth writing assignment.
Maintenance/Shit Got To Be Done: No progress.
In Case of Zombies/Disaster Preparation: No progress. I hope to participate in a training burn this week.
Base Station/Ol' Number 3: No progress. I'm still in the process of relocating to Base Station. A permit for the septic plan is in progress, as is a geoengineering consult/site plan for gravel and concrete for the large vehicle bay and the pole barn. The geoengineer has completed a site visit. The industrial shelves and all of the shelving hardware are in the Pump House and ready to be installed and loaded. The curtain project for Ol' Number 3 is finished, and I have better curtains now than I did with the original curtains. I have also picked up the end cabinet for the tool cabinet in the Pump House, and I'll run that out to the Pump House this week.
Adventure/Doing Stuff: We took a road trip to SE Washington/Eastern Idaho, getting our Junior Ranger badges for the very interesting Manhattan Project National Historic Park in Hanford, WA, and two of the 50 oldest remaining geocaches for each state (Washington and Idaho). We also got geocaches in seven more Washington Delorme Squares. We managed to get stuck in the sand at the Juniper Dunes Wilderness Area after getting the 21st oldest geocache in Washington, and we had an endurance hike climbing the hills/bluffs near Lewiston, WA, where we found the 30th oldest geocache in Washington in a snowstorm. Unfortunately, I landed on a rock and split a finger open, with some swelling, but no permanent damage.
